Codie Thomas says she has achieved an ambition by signing a contract extension with Manchester City.
The exciting full-back has penned a two-year deal with the Club which will keep her at the Joie Stadium until the summer of 2027.
A lifelong blue, the 18-year-old impressively progressed through our youth system after joining our Academy in 2016 and signed her maiden professional contract in December 2024.
Now, after tasting first-team football last season, she has committed her future to Andrée Jeglertz’s side and Thomas believes she’s in the best place to aid her development.
“Yeah, it’s amazing [to sign a contract extension]. With City being such a big club it’s a place that I want to be, it’s a place where I want to learn and develop, on the pitch and off the pitch.
“It’s been amazing, like the environment is one that you can progress in every part of life and it’s always challenging every single day.”
After making her debut in a 3-2 Champions League win over St Polten last season, Thomas totalled three outings for City last term before she suffered an injury.
And after completing her rehabilitation process, she is eager to impress on the senior stage throughout 2025/26.
She added: “It was a very big step [into senior football]. There was a lot of physical demand and the intensity was so much higher.
“I feel like training with them [senior squad] last season and playing a couple of games, I feel like I’ve stepped more into that role now and feel more confident.
“Last year was a whirlwind. Obviously, I had my first ever injury, which was really hard and it was hard to come in every day and see everybody else progress and I've kind of just been injured and kind of just trying to get through the days.
“But obviously now I'm back and like a little kid running around the pitch. I'm just so happy to be out there.”
