Corinthians academy keeper talks to Central do Timão, recalls arrival

The goalkeeper Filipe Santos, now 27 years old and playing for Sergipe, gave an exclusive interview to Central do Timão at the end of 2025, discussing various topics during almost two hours of conversation. The athlete left the Alvinegro in December 2021 after not renewing his contract with the club.

In the interview, the goalkeeper, originally from Rio de Janeiro, recalled his beginnings in football in the youth categories of Fluminense at the age of 10. He also shared some curiosities from his journey, such as his time as a pivot in futsal before permanently becoming a goalkeeper, and his family's connection to the world of football.

Filipe Santos detailed his arrival at Corinthians in 2015 to play for the Under-17 team and spoke about his first months defending the Corinthians jersey, from the adaptation challenges due to the distance from his family to winning the 2017 São Paulo Junior Football Cup – a generation that included midfielders Fabrício Oya and Pedrinho, as well as forward Carlinhos – against Batatais.

On the other hand, he was asked about some painful moments, such as the runner-up finish in the 2016 São Paulo Cup against Flamengo at Pacaembu, after leading 2-0 in regular time and conceding the draw. Filipe Santos managed to save a penalty but couldn't prevent the Timãozinho from finishing second. In the same year, the Filhos do Terrão also lost the Under-17 Brazil Cup to Botafogo in Itaquera, losing 2-0.

The goalkeeper also commented on his experience playing at the Neo Química Arena in the 2016 Copinha semifinal, triumphing over Cruzeiro with a 2-1 score, with goals from Claudinho and Pedrinho. Filipe Santos also discussed winning the Under-17 BH Cup, when the team was led by Márcio Zanardi.

During his time in the Corinthians youth categories, he became a club world champion with Alvinegro and received call-ups for the youth categories of the Brazilian National Team. In 2018, he was promoted to the professional squad but ended up not having opportunities in the main team, being loaned to Paraná in 2020. He also played for the Corinthians Under-23 team (a category that was discontinued in the 2021 season) in 2020.

After leaving Corinthians, he played for: Maringá (2023), West Armenia, Marcílio Dias-SC, and Rio Branco-PR (all in 2024), Rio Branco-PR and Pouso Alegre (2025), before joining Sergipe for 2026.
