Corinthians allowed fans, fined and lose ticket revenue by STJD

Corinthians will have a public presence at the match against Ponte Preta, scheduled for this Sunday at the Neo Química Arena. The club managed to overturn the closed-door punishment after reaching an agreement with the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) in the last few hours.

To allow fans to attend the season opener, the club's management agreed to pay a fine equivalent to 30% of the gross revenue from the match against the Campinas team. Additionally, Corinthians also committed to transferring 15% of the revenue from the classic against São Paulo, scheduled for January 18th, during the third round of the Paulista Championship group stage.

The punishment imposed on the club originated from events during last year's Paulista Championship final, played against Palmeiras at the Neo Química Arena. In October, after the case was judged, Corinthians was sentenced to play matches behind closed doors due to the widespread chaos recorded at the end of the decision.

In the match, held on March 27th, fans threw objects onto the field, lit flares in various sections of the stadium, and launched fireworks towards the pitch in the final minutes of the Derby, which confirmed the club's 31st state title at Parque São Jorge.

Initially, the Sports Justice Tribunal (TJD) ordered the matches to be held without an audience. However, in December, the Corinthians management appealed and obtained the conversion of the sports penalty into financial sanctions, allowing fans to attend the mentioned games.
