Corinthians bid to extend Maycon's loan from Shakhtar Donetsk

After struggling with injuries and lack of rhythm, Maycon has become an important piece for Corinthians in Dorival Júnior's view. As a result, the management has sent a proposal for a new loan to Shakhtar Donetsk to keep the midfielder until the end of 2026. The current contract is valid until the end of the 2025 season. The information comes from GE.

The proposal was sent to the Ukrainian club last week, but Corinthians has not yet received a response regarding the presented agreement. The request to maintain the contract came from Dorival Júnior, who sees the player as one of the pillars of the squad, both on and off the field.

It is worth mentioning that Corinthians owes about 1 million euros (approximately R$ 6.2 million at the current exchange rate) to Shakhtar Donetsk, precisely due to previous negotiations for Maycon's loans. The process is underway at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following an appeal filed by Timão.

The reason Maycon is at Corinthians has been active since 2022: Ukraine is at war with Russia. Thus, players can unilaterally terminate their contracts until mid-2026, reducing the Ukrainian club's negotiating power. Players in Russian football also have the same option.

In total, the People's Team has four players in the final month of their contracts. Besides Maycon, Talles Magno, Romero, and Fabrizio Angileri are also possibly in their last month at Corinthians.
