Corinthians beat Peñarol of Uruguay 2-0 on Thursday, sealing three consecutive Libertadores victories for the first time since 2015.
According to Meu Timao, Fernando Diniz is in charge.
The run began in early April with a 2-0 win at Platense, courtesy of Kayke and Yuri Alberto. It continued with a 2-0 defeat of Independiente Santa Fe in the next round, Raniele and Gustavo Henrique scoring, before Thursday’s 2-0 over Peñarol through Gustavo Henrique and Jesse Lingard’s first goal in the competition.
Back in 2015, Tite’s side opened by beating São Paulo 2-0 at the Neo Química Arena, Elias and Jadson on target. They then won 1-0 at San Lorenzo with Elias again, before a 2-1 success at Danubio thanks to Guerrero and Felipe.
That year Corinthians topped their group but were knocked out in the last 16 by Guaraní of Paraguay, 3-0 on aggregate.
Corinthians now lead Group E with nine points and a perfect record. Platense are second on 6, while Peñarol and Santa Fe have one apiece.
