Corinthians coach and strikers risk suspension before Lib Feminina KO

Corinthians face Independiente Santa Fé from Colombia, on Wednesday night, October 8, at Francisco Sola Stadium, at 8pm (Brasília time), for the third round of the group stage of the Conmebol Women's Libertadores. Currently, the Alvinegro team is leading Group A with four points.

For the match, the Brabas have coach Lucas Piccinato and strikers Gisela Robledo and Jhonson on yellow cards, aiming for a possible knockout stage. This is because the Conmebol regulations for the Libertadores stipulate a suspension after two yellow cards, unlike most tournaments in the world of football.

Coach Lucas Piccinato and striker Gisela Robledo were punished with a yellow card in the debut of the international competition, in the draw with Independiente Del Valle, from Ecuador, by 1 x 1. Jhonson, on the other hand, received a yellow card in the match last Sunday, October 5, in the rout against Always Ready, from Bolivia, by the score of 11 x 0.

For the knockout stage of the Women's Libertadores, Conmebol states in its regulations that yellow cards are reset. Therefore, if a player is on a yellow card before the quarterfinals, she goes back to zero in this regard. If she is warned with the second yellow card precisely in the last round of the group stage, the punishment will be served in the single match of the quarterfinals of the international tournament.
