Corinthians confirm changes to face Peñarol in Libertadores, draw secures Group E top spot

Corinthians have named a changed side to face Peñarol in Copa Libertadores Group E, with top spot secured by a draw. Kick-off is 21:30 at Estadio Campeón del Siglo in Montevideo.
According to Meu Timao, last-16 qualification is already assured, so Fernando Diniz has rotated with the Brasileiro schedule in mind before the World Cup pause.
The starting XI is Hugo Souza, Pedro Milans, Gabriel Paulista, Gustavo Henrique, Fabrizio Angileri, Allan, André Luiz, Matheus Pereira, Zakaria Labyad, Kaio César and Pedro Raul. Bench options are Kauê, Matheuzinho, André Ramalho, Breno Bidon, Rodrigo Garro, Yuri Alberto, Raniele, André Carrillo, Charles, Gui Negão, Dieguinho and Jesse Lingard.
Diego Aguirre’s Peñarol start Washington Aguerre, Franco Escobar, Mauricio Lemos, Emanuel Gularte, Maximiliano Olivera, Jesús Trindade, Eduardo Darias, Gastón Togni, Leandro Umpiérrez, Diego Laxalt and Matías Arezo.
Memphis Depay misses out with left calf discomfort and did not travel, while left-back Matheus Bidu is sidelined by a left ankle sprain. João Pedro Tchoca, Hugo Farias, Kayke and Vitinho also remain unavailable. Alex Santana was not registered for this stage, while Charles returns and Labyad is fit to start.
Corinthians lead Group E on 10 points, with Platense on 7 and Independiente Santa Fe on 5, while Peñarol have 2. The hosts must win to stay in contention for the last 16. In the final round Peñarol play Santa Fe at home, and Corinthians host Platense at Neo Química Arena next Wednesday at 21:30.
