Corinthians have confirmed goalkeeper Felipe Longo has suffered a right elbow ligament strain, minutes after naming their side to face Cruzeiro, the club said.

With Longo unavailable, academy product Kauê is on the bench as third-choice, while 16-year-old Gustavo Milani, who travelled with the squad, has been omitted.

On Sunday, goalkeeper Matheus Corrêa was included in the senior squad, but he has returned to the under-20s, who face Bahia on Thursday in the Brasileiro.

Alongside Longo, Corinthians now have five players in the treatment room. Yuri Alberto has a grade 2 injury to the left biceps femoris, Kaio César has a right posterior thigh issue, and Hugo Farias is recovering from an arthroscopy, while Matheus Pereira is also sidelined.

For Thursday’s match, Corinthians remain without Zakaria Labyad, who is building match fitness and continues a training programme. By contrast, the club will have Fabrizio Angileri making his second debut.

Kick-off is at 20:00 at Mineirão in the fourth round of the Brasileirão. Corinthians are set to field a rotated team as focus returns to the Paulistão semi-final.
