Corinthians confirm injuries to Hugo Farias and Kaio César during 3-0 win over Capivariano | OneFootball

Corinthians said Hugo Farias suffered a lateral meniscus injury in his right knee during the 3-0 win over Capivariano and will have surgery in the coming days. The club added that forward Kaio César has a right hamstring injury and has begun treatment with the physiotherapy staff.

Both were substituted in the first half on Thursday. Kaio felt pain after a challenge on 15 minutes and was replaced by Dieguinho. Hugo’s right knee was hurt contesting the ball with Mike and he went off on 40 minutes for Matheus Bidu.

Dorival Júnior rotated his squad with the weekend in mind. Neither player is a regular starter, but the injuries cut his in-game options. Kaio, announced last week, had been used across the flanks, while Hugo was the only reserve left back.

With Hugo sidelined, Matheus Bidu is now the sole left-back option in the squad. The club are negotiating the return of Fabrizio Angileri.

The pair are the first medical absences confirmed for the derby against Palmeiras. Midfielder José Martínez will also miss out, as he is not yet registered in the Paulistão amid delays to reissue his passport in Venezuela.

Other absences relate to the transfer window. Goalkeeper Matheus Donelli is leaving on loan to Shabab Al Ahli in the United Arab Emirates until mid 2026. Centre-back Cacá, who is negotiating a move to Athletico-PR, was left out of that game.

Corinthians host Palmeiras on Sunday, eight February at 20:30 at Neo Química Arena, in the seventh round of the Campeonato Paulista, a direct meeting at the top of the table.
