Leonardo Pantaleão, acting president of the Conselho Deliberativo, CD, has scheduled votes for one and eight June on the possible expulsion of deposed Corinthians president Augusto Melo from the club’s membership. According to Meu Timao, the ballots have been formally set.

Melo and a group of councillors are under investigation by the Comissão de Ética e Disciplina, CE, over the invasion of Parque São Jorge on 31 May 2025 carried out by supporters of the former president.

A group led by Maria Angela de Sousa Ocampos, the CD’s first secretary, attempted to overturn the nine August 2025 impeachment by declaring herself council president. At the time the club was led on an interim basis by Osmar Stabile, who called the episode a threat to democratic order.

In CE hearings, Melo said he was unaware in advance of Maria Angela’s move, adding he had been told by backers that a document existed to restore him, on the premise he remained the legitimate president. Maria Angela also testified after attempts to delay, saying she had been encouraged by people close to Melo to present the document.

Eleven councillors are also implicated: Carlos Eduardo Melo Silva, Laercio Ferreira Victoria, Leandro Olmedila, Marcos Coelho Abdo, Mário Mello Júnior, Paulo Juricic, Paulo Rogério Pinheiro Jr., Peterson Ruan Aiello do Couto Ramos, Rodrigo Simonnini Gonzalez, Ronaldo Fernandez Tomé and Wanderson Contrera Salles. Their cases will be voted on one of the two dates.

Mário Mello Júnior and Ronaldo Fernandez Tomé currently sit on the Ethics Commission, with Cláudia Carlos Oliveira, Richard de Paula Oliveira and Renato Ramires listed as alternates if suspensions or removals occur.

The CE recommended preventive suspension during the probe, citing institutional risk, but this was non-binding and all remain in post.

Under the club statute, the accused may mount a full defence and make written and oral submissions. The vote on Melo and his allies is expected to be open and nominal, with participation from 297 active council members.

Melo no longer holds a Council seat, so any expulsion would end his status as a club member and all associated rights at Parque São Jorge. Expelled councillors lose their posts and seats automatically, and any return requires the CD to cancel the penalty once it deems the original reasons no longer apply.
