Corinthians’ deliberative council voted to keep the club’s Conselho de Orientação elected only by councillors, defeating proposals to give members a say. Option C received 90 of 102 votes on Monday night.

The meeting at Parque São Jorge was chaired by acting CD president Leonardo Pantaleão with first secretary Maria Ângela Ocampos, reform chair Dalton Gioia and second secretary Denis Piovesan, according to Meu Timao.

Councillors faced three models, a mixed election split between the General Assembly and the council, full election by the General Assembly, or keeping the current format, 10 full and 10 alternates chosen within the council. The latter prevailed and will be put to a General Assembly with 14 other items.

Proceedings were tense, with procedural objections from Vinícius Cascone, defended by Romeu Tuma Júnior then disputed by Ademir Benedito. After jeers and protests by André Negão and Felipe Ezabella, voting paused before resuming. Fewer than 10 triennial councillors attended, with only Tuma and Dalton backing the mixed model.

The reform process began on 29 April, when the base text was rejected and two of 15 topics were voted. Later, councillors voted on 12 more topics, with outcomes including no SAF regulation, a cut to the council from 300 to 200 and an exception on re-election rules for president Osmar Stabile, interim since May last year. The General Assembly has the final say.

The commission will now finalise the draft for a vote on 20 June at Parque São Jorge, from 9 to 17, by paper ballot. Members aged 18 or over, with more than five years’ association and fees paid, will vote yes or no on each section. Approved changes take immediate effect, and the ballot structure is yet to be defined.
