Corinthians cruise past Juventude, into Copa do Brasil Feminina quarters

On the afternoon of this Wednesday, September 17, Corinthians and Juventude faced each other in the round of 16 of the Women's Brasileirão. The knockout stage is played in a single match, which ended with a score of 3 x 0 for Timão, with goals from Vic Albuquerque, Ariel Godoi, and Gisela Robledo.

The first half of the match was dominated by the Paulista Alvinegro, which hardly suffered from dangerous plays and saw Lelê being little called into action. In the attack, Timão saw its main escape valve being the Colombian Gisela Robledo on the right. From her feet came the cross for the first goal, scored by Vic Albuquerque. Still in the first half, Ariel took advantage of a defensive slip to extend the lead.

The second half continued at a similar pace to the first half, with Corinthians dominating the game without much difficulty, despite having decreased the offensive impetus. The team still scored a beautiful goal with Gisela Robledo to seal the spot in the quarterfinals.

Corinthians' Lineup

After the title of the 2025 Brazilian Championship, won last Sunday, it was expected that Lucas Piccinato would rotate the squad.

In view of this, coach Lucas Piccinato lined up Corinthians with Lelê; Thais Regina, Erika, Letícia Teles, Gi Fernandes, Yaya, Letícia Monteiro, Vic Albuquerque, Juliete, Gisela Robledo, and Ariel Godoi.

On the bench were available Kemelli, Letícia Santos, Andressa Alves, Gabi Zanotti, Eudimilla, Ivana Fuso, Mariza, Paulinha, Jaqueline, Dayana Rodríguez, Tamires, and Jhonson.

Juventude's Lineup

Coach Luciano Brandalise lined up: Renata; Hericka Sorriso, Apoliana, Bruna Emília, Rayane Pires, Carol Ladaga, Bell Silva, Dani Venturini, Drielly, Teté, and Dani Ortolan.

Refereeing

The whistle was held by Jady Jesus Caldas, assisted by Veridiana Contiliani Bisco and Henrique Perinelli Oliveira. The fourth referee was Guilherme Francisco Maciel da Silva and Rosario. There will be no VAR in the match.

First half

The first dangerous play was precisely from Timão. At two minutes, Letícia Monteiro took advantage of a rebound on the left side of the area and shot well, forcing the opposing goalkeeper to make a good save.

At eight minutes, Gisela Robledo arrived on the right, tried the cross but sent it directly towards the goal, forcing Renata to defend, but without difficulties. At 15 minutes, Letícia Monteiro passed to Ariel in the pivot and the center forward set up for Vic Albuquerque at the entrance of the area. The number 17 shot dangerously over the goal.

The first goal of Corinthians: At 22, Timão had a corner kick, but the defense cleared. On the rebound, Gisela Robledo crossed into the area and found Vic Albuquerque, who headed over the opposing goalkeeper to open the scoring.

At 30, Gisela Robledo received freely on the right, invaded the area and crossed to Ariel, but the attacker did not reach the ball in time and missed a great chance to extend the score for the Brabas. At 36, Robledo again received unmarked on the counterattack. The Colombian dribbled the goalkeeper, but lost the angle of the goal and tried the pass to Gi Fernandes, who ended up shooting weakly into the hands of the goalkeeper.

The second goal of Corinthians: At 39 minutes, Yaya attempted a launch, the Juventude defense got confused and Ariel took advantage. The attacker took the ball away from the goalkeeper and shot calmly into the back of the net, extending the score for Corinthians.

There was no time for any other dangerous play and Timão went to the break winning by 2 x 0.

Second half

Just two minutes in, Gi Fernandes made a good cross and the ball reached Letícia Monteiro in the middle of the area. The number 19 controlled, but was disturbed at the time of marking and ended up shooting out, missing a great chance to score the third goal.

At 14 minutes, Thaís Regina tried a shot from outside the area, but sent it far from the goal.

The third goal of Corinthians: At 17, Thaís Regina made a beautiful launch for Gisela Robledo, who controlled with great skill before shooting away from the goalkeeper to extend the score for Timão once again.

At 23 minutes, Juventude tried a shot from outside the area, but Lelê made the save in two times without many problems. At 35, Eudimilla received on the right, took it to the middle and tried the shot, but hit the ball badly and sent it out.

At 37 minutes, it was Ivana Fuso's turn to try the finish after a play on the right side, but the attacking midfielder also stopped at the goalkeeper. At 39, Juventude came dangerously after a wrong ball out from Corinthians and Lelê made a great save to prevent the opponents' goal.

At 47, after a wrong retreat in the ball out, Lelê was almost surprised by the opposing attacker, who managed to touch over the Corinthians goalkeeper, but ended up sending it out. There was no time for anything else and the Brabas won by 3 x 0.
