Corinthians director and four staff members charged at STJD

The Supreme Court of Sports Justice (STJD) charged, on Friday, September 12, the Corinthians football executive, Fabinho Soldado, and four more club employees following complaints against referee Bruno Arleu de Araújo, on July 13, 2025. On that occasion, Alvinegro was defeated by Red Bull Bragantino 2-1 at Neo Química Arena, during the 13th round of the Brazilian Championship.

Also charged were José Carlos Freitas Júnior (administrative assistant), Mauro Silva (technical observer), Reverson Pimentel (fitness coach), and Marcelo Carpes (goalkeeper coach). The quartet was charged under article 258 of the CBJD (Brazilian Code of Sports Justice).

It provides for a punishment of up to six matches for unsportsmanlike conduct. The trial is scheduled to take place next Thursday, September 18, at the court's headquarters, located in Rio de Janeiro. Corinthians may also have to pay a fine of up to R$ 10,000, which is also included in article 258-D, where they were also charged.

The executive and the four mentioned employees protested at the time against the penalty awarded for a foul committed by defender Cacá, still in the first half, on a Red Bull Bragantino player. Bruno Arleu, in turn, recorded these events in the match report. Three of them approached the referee stating: “It wasn't a penalty! It's always you! You come here to harm us!”. Mauro Silva also had to be restrained by the police: “I also inform that at this moment, Mr. Mauro had to be restrained by the police.”

“After the end of the first half, in the tunnel leading to the referees' dressing room, Mr. Mauro da Silva, Fábio de Jesus, and Reverson Pimentel, all employees of the home team, approached me and said the following words in a harsh and aggressive manner: “It wasn't a penalty! It's always you! You come here to harm us!”. I also inform that at this moment, Mr. Mauro had to be restrained by the police.”

“I inform that at the end of the match, in the tunnel leading to the referees' dressing room, I was approached by Mr. Marcelo Carpes, José Carlos de Freitas, and Fábio de Jesus, employees of the home team, who repeatedly said in an aggressive manner: “Is no one going to talk about the penalty? You are very bad! It wasn't a penalty! I also inform that after the match ended, a child invaded from the east sector, being restrained by private security,” noted the referee in the report.
