Before kick-off against Flamengo on Sunday, Corinthians displayed the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil trophy on the pitch, with club idol Edílson Capetinha carrying it out.

According to Meu Timao, Edílson also headlined the club’s Esquenta da Fiel at the Neo Química Arena’s Estacionamento E5, which featured a chat with the player, a samba circle and a DJ, with food and beer on sale until 18:30.

Edílson played for Corinthians from 1997 to 2000, winning four trophies, the 1999 Campeonato Paulista, the 1998 and 1999 Brasileiros, and the 2000 Club World Cup. In 163 appearances he scored 55 goals.

Sunday’s game is the clubs’ first meeting of the year after the one February Supercopa do Brasil final. Corinthians qualified by winning the 2025 Copa do Brasil, while the Rio side were national champions.

At Estádio Mané Garrincha that day, a balanced contest ended 2-0 to Corinthians. Gabriel Paulista scored after 24 minutes of the first half, and Yuri Alberto added the second with the final kick.

The line-up chosen by Dorival Júnior in that final, unchanged this Sunday, was: Hugo Souza, Matheuzinho, Gabriel Paulista, Gustavo Henrique, Matheus Bidu, Raniele, André Luiz, André Carrillo, Breno Bidon, Memphis Depay and Yuri Alberto.
