Corinthians slipped to 10th in the Brasileirão after a 2-0 home defeat to Coritiba on Wednesday at Neo Química Arena, leaving Dorival Júnior’s side on seven points. According to Meu Timao, most fifth-round fixtures were completed on Thursday.

They had the chance to go top with a win in Itaquera if rivals faltered, but the loss cost them ground in the standings.

Having started the round third, Corinthians fell seven places. They now sit outside 2027 Libertadores spots and in the chase for a Sudamericana place.

Flamengo, Coritiba, Athletico Paranaense and Grêmio are sixth to ninth respectively, all also on seven points but ahead on tiebreakers.

In the top five, Red Bull Bragantino hold fifth on eight points, the same as Bahia. Fluminense and Palmeiras have 10, with São Paulo leading on 13 from 15 available.

Below Corinthians are Mirassol on six, then Chapecoense, Atlético Mineiro and Santos on five.

Vasco da Gama and Vitória are just above the relegation zone with four. Inside it sit Botafogo and Remo on three, while Internacional and Cruzeiro are bottom on two.

One fixture from the round remains, Athletico Paranaense versus Botafogo was moved to 29 this month due to the Rio club’s preliminary Libertadores commitments. Botafogo were eliminated by Barcelona de Guayaquil of Ecuador.

Seeking a first win in four matches, Corinthians visit Santos on Sunday at 16:00 in round six.
