Corinthians beat Vasco da Gama 1-0 on Sunday night in the 13th round of the Brasileirão, ending a long league winless run and stretching their sequence of clean sheets this season to six.

The run began with a 2-0 win away to Platense in the Libertadores on 9 April 2026. It continued with a 0-0 draw against Palmeiras, a 2-0 victory over Independiente Santa Fe, a 0-0 at Vitória and a 1-0 success at Barra at the Ressacada, before Sunday’s triumph.

The current sequence matches a club milestone not seen for more than 11 years, last achieved between 25 February and 14 March 2015 when Tite was in charge.

The defensive surge has coincided with Fernando Diniz taking over at the start of April. Under him, Corinthians have four wins and two draws, with six goals scored and none conceded.

The victory lifted the team out of the relegation zone to 14th on 15 points, ahead of Santos, Internacional and Atlético Mineiro. Next up is Peñarol in the Libertadores on Thursday at 21:00, again at the Neo Química Arena, in the third round of the group stage.
