Corinthians extend second half opener drought with 1-1 at Bahia | OneFootball

Corinthians began the second half of the Campeonato Brasileiro with a 1-1 draw away to Bahia at Arena Fonte Nova on Sunday, prolonging their wait for a win in these opening return fixtures.

According to Meu Timao, the drought dates back to 2022.

They beat Botafogo 1-0 in 2022, then drew 1-1 with Cruzeiro in 2023, lost 2-1 to Atlético Mineiro in 2024 and were beaten 2-1 by Bahia in 2025.

Despite the current wait, Corinthians remain unbeaten away to Bahia since 2021, a run of three draws and one win. Including meetings with Vitória in Salvador, they are seven without defeat in the Bahian capital.

Fernando Diniz’s side arrived in form, enjoying their best spell in the national competition since 2025 after overcoming Atlético Mineiro, Grêmio and Remo.

Corinthians sit eighth on 28 points and will aim to resume winning ways on Thursday when they host Athletico Paranaense at 19:30 at the Neo Química Arena.
