Corinthians face Platense on Wednesday with Venezuelan referee Alexis Herrera set to take charge, a figure under whom they have not yet won.
According to Meu Timao, Herrera, 36, has overseen two Corinthians games, both away defeats.
His other assignment came in the 2020 qualifying first leg, a 1-0 defeat to Guaraní in Assunção. The return in Itaquera finished 2-1 to Corinthians, but they went out on the away goals rule.
The most recent match with him was in the 2023 Libertadores, a 3-0 loss at Independiente del Valle in Quito, and that result saw them eliminated in the group stage.
It will be the first time Herrera has officiated Corinthians at home. Under his watch Corinthians have yet to score, and four yellow cards have been shown to their players.
His assistants will be Alberto Ponte and Erizion Nieto, with Yender Herrera as fourth official and Reyes Soto on VAR. Kick-off is 21:30 in Itaquera, and a win would improve the overall campaign for Fernando Diniz’s side, already through to the last 16 and top of Group E.
