Corinthians fans displayed a banner calling for the expulsion of former club presidents before Sunday’s Paulistão quarter-final at Canindé. The team face Portuguesa at 20h30.

According to Meu Timao, a single banner reading "Expulsão já!" named Andrés Sanches, Duilio Monteiro Alves and Augusto Melo. Members of the Movimento Expulsão Já handed out stickers linked to a petition seeking their removal, which has almost 15,000 signatures. Among club members, 450 endorsements are required to formalise the request, of which 398 have been recorded.

The protest comes amid internal investigations by the club’s Conselho Deliberativo into alleged misuse of corporate cards. Andrés faces an Ethics Committee case over possible irregular spending in his second term from 2018 to 2020, while Duilio was preparing to be heard by the Justice Committee.

The São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the club to take steps over a possible breach of precautionary measures imposed on ex-president Andrés Sánchez during the corporate-card probe.

Separately, the Justice Committee will also review the expenses of former president Augusto Melo and points raised by an internal audit that identified a possible diversion of Nike sports materials. The body is assessing cases one by one, with Augusto next once Duilio’s process concludes.

Amid the political turbulence, Corinthians will look to keep focus on the pitch and secure a semi-final place later on Sunday.
