Wesley, a Corinthians academy graduate, claimed his first professional trophy on Saturday as Real Sociedad beat Atlético Madrid on penalties to lift the Copa del Rey. The 21-year-old was an unused substitute in the final.

He joined Real Sociedad on loan at the start of 2026 until the end of the European season in May. If the Spaniards choose to keep him, they would need to pay 12 million euros to Al-Nassr, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He joined Corinthians at under-13 and rose through the ranks to the first team in 2023. He made 85 appearances and scored seven goals. Although he earned no senior silverware, he won the Paulista under-17 title, scoring in a final against Palmeiras decided on penalties.

In August 2024 he moved to Al-Nassr for around 20 million dollars, approximately R$ 110 million at the time, plus a further five million dollars in bonuses linked to targets.

Corinthians do not profit from the loan, but could receive about three per cent of any future sale through FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, as he represented the club from ages 12 to 19.

Before switching to Spain, Wesley publicly voiced a desire to return to Corinthians in the future. In November 2025 he visited Neo Química Arena alongside João Cancelo, João Félix and Renan Lodi to watch a 2-2 draw with Botafogo, and was presented with a shirt.

Despite the triumph, his minutes under head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo have been limited.
