Corinthians have beaten 14 of 15 Copa Libertadores Femenina rivals

In a few weeks, the Corinthians Women's team will be heading to Argentina, where they will compete in another edition of the Copa Libertadores from October 2nd to 18th. The Brabas, who are five-time continental champions, are the top seed in Group A and found out on Saturday, 20th, another one of their opponents: Dragonas Independiente del Valle, who won the Ecuadorian Championship this afternoon.

In addition to the Ecuadorian team, Timão will also face in the group stage Always Ready from Bolivia, and the losing team from the Colombian Championship final between Independiente Santa Fe and Deportivo Cali, who will decide the local league this Sunday, 21st – Santa Fe won the first leg of the final 1 x 0 at home.

Thus, all the teams that will compete in the Libertadores along with Corinthians have been defined – and the Brabas have excellent memories of these clubs, as in their history they have already faced 14 of the 15 potential challengers on the black and white path to the hexa, with excellent numbers in retrospect, whether considering Brazilian opponents or foreign ones.

The only team that Corinthians has never faced in official matches is, precisely, the Dragonas, against whom the Brabas will make their debut in the tournament on October 2nd. The only previous encounter between the teams took place in a training match in October 2022, which was part of the black and white preparation for that year's Libertadores. Timão won by 1 x 0.

All the other 12 foreign clubs that will be in the Libertadores have already faced Corinthians at least once in past editions of the tournament, with a wide advantage for the Brabas in the numbers: in 20 matches played, the team has 16 wins, two draws and two losses, scoring 60 goals and conceding only eight. Therefore, a performance of 83.3% of the points.

Interestingly, the only two Corinthians losses in the history of the Libertadores are in this group. In addition, both occurred in the same edition of the tournament, precisely in 2022. Already in the debut, Alvinegro was surprised by Deportivo Cali-COL, losing by 2 x 1. Finally, in the quarterfinals, the team was defeated by Boca Juniors-ARG, also by 2 x 1, finishing the campaign in seventh place (the worst in its history to date).

It is worth mentioning that the loss to Deportivo Cali-COL occurred in the only meeting between the teams. Thus, the Colombian team is the only one, among all 14 of this survey, that has an advantage in the head-to-head with the Corinthians. The second team with the best performance in the confrontation is precisely Boca Juniors-ARG, with one win, one draw and one loss in three matches played.

Against their Brazilian rivals in the tournament – São Paulo and Ferroviária – the numbers are much wider, since Corinthians has faced both since the 1990s in various competitions. In total, the Brabas have faced the duo 67 times, with 44 wins, 13 draws and ten losses, scoring 134 goals and conceding 62. The performance, still quite positive, is 72.1%.
