Corinthians drew 0-0 with Palmeiras at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, a derby in the 11th round of the Brasileiro. The result stretched their league winless run to eight, the club’s longest since 2024.

In 2024, Antônio Oliveira’s side went nine league games without victory, starting on 11 May with a 0-0 home draw against Fortaleza in round five. The run included defeats to Flamengo, Botafogo and Internacional and draws with Atlético-GO, São Paulo, Athletico-PR and Cuiabá, before a one July loss to Palmeiras prompted the Portuguese coach’s dismissal. The drought ended next time out with a 3-2 win over Vitória under interim Raphael Laruccia.

This season’s sequence began with a 1-1 draw with Cruzeiro on 25 February in round four. Since then Corinthians lost to Coritiba, drew with Santos, Chapecoense and Flamengo, were beaten by Fluminense and Internacional, then drew again with Palmeiras.

Before the slump, they lost to Bahia on opening day and beat Red Bull Bragantino and Athletico-PR. As in 2024, head coach Dorival Júnior was dismissed after a 1-0 home defeat to Internacional, following nine winless games in all competitions. Fernando Diniz took over, ended the overall skid by beating Platense in the Libertadores, but has yet to turn the league form.

The next chance to stop the league run is away to Vitória at Barradão in Bahia on Saturday, 18 April. Corinthians are 16th on 11 points, one place and one point above the relegation zone.
