Corinthians hit best home form since 2022 at Neo Química Arena

After defeating Grêmio 2-0 last Sunday (2), Corinthians reached an impressive milestone: 20 victories at Neo Química Arena in 2025. This number already surpasses the club's historical average per season at the stadium. The last time Timão ended a year with more than 20 wins in Itaquera was in 2022 — and before that, it only happened in 2016 and 2015.

Despite disappointments in continental competitions, the home performance remains one of the team's positive points this season. So far, Corinthians has played 32 official matches at Neo Química Arena, totaling 20 wins, seven draws, and only five losses — a success rate of 69.79%.

Considering all complete seasons since the stadium's inauguration (excluding 2025, which is still ongoing), Corinthians has an average and mode of 19 victories per year in Itaquera. In other words, 19 is the number that repeats the most when analyzing the total wins per season.

Timão surpassed 20 victories at the stadium only in 2015, 2016, and 2022. In 2017, they matched the number, but one of the wins came in a friendly against Ferroviária, which excludes it from this list. In the two years prior to 2025, the team ended with 19 home victories. Both in 2023 and 2024, Corinthians had irregular campaigns — in 2023, they even fought against relegation before bouncing back with a sequence of nine consecutive wins in the Brasileirão.

The 2020 and 2021 seasons, impacted by the pandemic, had inferior performances: 13 and 16 victories, respectively. Even counting the transitional games between seasons, the maximum reached in 2021 was 19 wins.

In 2018 and 2019, Corinthians maintained a good start to the year, with achievements in the São Paulo championship, but declined in the final stretch and did not reach 20 victories in either season. In 2018, the club also played two friendlies at the Arena — they beat Grêmio 2-1 and drew with Cruzeiro — while in 2019, they drew 1-1 in their only such game.

The early years of Neo Química Arena were the most consistent in terms of performance. In the stadium's debut in 2014, the team won 12 of the 18 matches played. Then, they shone in 2015, the year of the Brazilian title under Tite's command, when they amassed 25 victories, the absolute record to this day. In 2016, they maintained a high level with 24 wins.

Now, in 2025, Corinthians can dream of surpassing this historical record. However, to do so, they will need to win all the remaining matches they will play in Itaquera until the end of the year.
