According to Meu Timao, Corinthians remain optimistic of re-signing 31-year-old Fabrizio Angileri and are banking on the player’s wish to return. The Argentine is a free agent after his deal expired on 31 December 2025.

He did not want to leave, but renewal talks stalled amid demands from his representative, and the board still sees a positive route back for the left-back.

The club’s stance has shifted as they struggle to find a left-back on loan or without a fee who fits their criteria. Corinthians had tried to extend his contract since August 2025, though finances kept progress limited.

Since departing, Angileri has yet to decide his next move and remains on the market. He has had enquiries and offers, while working to make a stay at Corinthians viable, so the situation remains open. He was not part of the squad that won the Supercopa do Brasil.

Dorival Júnior currently has Hugo Farias as back-up to Matheus Bidu at left-back, with Diego Palacios returning from Karpaty in Ukraine before being moved on to Universidad Católica in Ecuador.

Angileri joined in February 2025 after terminating his Getafe contract. He had mixed form but earned trust under Dorival, even filling in as a third centre-back at times. In total he played 42 matches, starting 26, supplied two assists, and was part of Paulista and Copa do Brasil title wins.
