According to Meu Timao, Corinthians remain in talks to sign Arthur Melo from Juventus after his spell at Grêmio, though salary demands are a major obstacle. The club are maintaining contact and believe Fernando Diniz’s relationship with the 29-year-old could help unlock progress.

Diniz wants another holding midfielder and has recommended Arthur. Corinthians judged a potential loan costly after initial checks. He did not remain at Grêmio due to salary, seeking more than R$ two million per month, ge.globo reports.

Arthur is contracted to Juventus until June 2027, and another loan is seen as the most viable route.

Raised at Grêmio, he shone in the 2017 Copa Libertadores triumph. That form earned a move to Barcelona, where he won La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup, and he was part of Brazil’s 2019 Copa América-winning squad.

After Barcelona he joined Juventus, then had loans at Liverpool, Fiorentina and Girona. A run of injuries hampered his progress and he returned to Grêmio last season on loan. Back in Turin, he is not expected to have a place under Luciano Spalletti, whose side will play the Europa League in 2026/27.

Corinthians must also address finances before moving on reinforcements. The club are under a FIFA transfer ban over late payment to Philadelphia Union for José Martínez. Football executive Marcelo Paz has said exits are needed to reach the R$ 151 million budget target, with Breno Bidon and André Luiz among those who could depart.
