According to Globo.com, Corinthians are interested in signing Al-Nassr forward Wesley and are waiting for their transfer ban to lift before advancing talks.
The board are counting on the 21-year-old’s wish to return to help see off rival Brazilian clubs. Cruzeiro opened talks early this week, but discussions cooled after an initial high salary request. Corinthians executives believe his desire to come back could ease a deal.
Corinthians have been unable to register new players for more than 50 days due to a Fifa-imposed transfer ban. They aim to raise funds through sales to settle a US$ 1.5 million debt to Philadelphia Union in the United States for the 2024 purchase of midfielder José Martínez.
The club hope to bring in at least 25 million euros when the window opens on 20 July. Wesley, a wide forward and Corinthians academy graduate, fits the profile sought by Fernando Diniz to strengthen the squad.
Wesley has been contracted to Al-Nassr since 2024 after leaving Corinthians for US$ 20 million plus a further US$ 5 million in performance bonuses. He played 40 matches for the Saudi side, scoring five goals and supplying four assists. Last season he was loaned to Real Sociedad in Spain, making five appearances without scoring.
