Corinthians launch anti-femicide campaign during Santos match

Corinthians took advantage of the end of the TV Globo soap opera "Vale Tudo" to promote an important campaign this Wednesday, the 15th. Using the famous phrase "Who killed Odete Roitman?" as a trigger, the Alvinegro launched a video on its social networks where it announced an institutional action against femicide in Brazil.

The publications featured various Corinthians personalities speaking on the topic, such as singer Negra Li, businesswoman Luiza Trajano, and actress Alessandra Negrini. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Brazil has the fifth-highest rate of femicides in the world: in 2024 alone, 1,492 women were murdered, which equates to an average of four per day, or one every six hours.

The action will continue tonight during the Corinthians match against Santos in the Brasileirão. The phrases "Who killed Maria?", "Who killed Joana?", and "Who killed Paula?" will be printed on the Alvinegro jersey during the Brasileirão match, alluding to the women who lose their lives every day to violence. The idea is to prompt reflection on the subject, expressing the hope that the question "Who killed?" will one day be just a piece of fiction.

This is not the first action in favor of women promoted by Timão this month. Last Saturday, the 4th, the Neo Química Arena hosted an event in partnership with the OAB-SP, where 60 women from Casa de Isabel — an institution that shelters and supports victims of domestic and family violence — and the Women's Lawyers Commission of the advocacy body participated in a symbolic entrance on the field before Timão's match against Mirassol.

Additionally, on the 10th, the club also remembered the National Day of Struggle against Violence Against Women, with a post denouncing the different forms of aggression suffered by women, reinforcing that the issue "is not an individual problem, it is a social, structural issue that requires awareness, empathy, and action from everyone." The statement also took the opportunity to publicize 180, a reporting channel that received almost 100,000 reports between January and August this year.
