Corinthians lose to São Paulo on penalties, finish Sub-17 runners-up

In their last game of the season this Saturday, Corinthians played the final of the Under-17 Women's Paulista Championship against São Paulo. At the Gabriel Marques da Silva Stadium in Santana de Parnaíba, the match ended in a 2-2 draw, and Corinthians was defeated on penalties.

The Brabinhas team, led by coach Julia Passero, took the field with the following lineup: Ana Morganti; Kaillany, Dany Pereira, and Lari Horn; Júlia Faria, Carol Melo, Pepê, and Lara Mel; Glória Lira, Dulce Maria, and Letícia Totô.

In a very balanced first half with opportunities for both teams, Corinthians opened the scoring with Dulce Maria. After falling behind, São Paulo gained momentum in the match and, with goals from Sarah Coelho and Sofia Gamonal, turned the game around, going into the break with a one-goal advantage.

In the second half, Corinthians performed better than São Paulo and, before ten minutes, equalized again with a goal from Glória Lira. With a second half marked by many fouls and few clear chances, the duel ended 2-2 in regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout.

In the penalty shootout, Corinthians took four shots and converted only two. São Paulo, on the other hand, scored five penalties and secured the title.
