Corinthians midfielder meets Ronaldo Fenômeno at social event: “Huge pleasure”

Corinthians midfielder Rodrigo Garro made an appearance at the Galácticos Open, a tennis tournament held in support of the Fenômenos Foundation, a social initiative created by Ronaldo Nazário, the legendary Corinthians idol. Although he did not play in the matches, the Argentine took part in the event’s activities and interacted with fans.

Throughout the day, Garro took photos, greeted fans, and also had the chance to learn more about the Foundation’s work. On his social media, the player celebrated the experience and highlighted the thrill of meeting Ronaldo, whom he referred to as a “football legend.”

“A special day at the Galácticos Open, an event that goes far beyond sports and gave me the opportunity to learn about the incredible work done by the Fenômenos Foundation and also by this football legend. It was a huge pleasure to meet you, Ronaldo.”, the midfielder posted.

The 2025 edition of the Galácticos Open took place throughout the week and concludes this Saturday. The tournament is charitable in nature and aims to raise funds for the Fenômenos Foundation’s projects. This year, participants were divided into two teams, led by former tennis players Bruno Soares and Thomaz Bellucci. Among those who took to the court were renowned former players such as Alexandre Pato, Amoroso, as well as Ronaldo himself, Denilson, Kaká, Elano, and Caio Ribeiro, among many others.

According to Forbes, the total raised from the event and the charity auction held on Wednesday surpassed R$ 14 million. The amount will be allocated to the construction of a new unit of the Foundation, which since 2010 has worked to promote social inclusion in vulnerable communities through sports projects, sustainability actions, and leadership training initiatives. Over its history, it is estimated that the organization has already impacted more than 85,000 people across about 20 different programs.

Ronaldo, who played for Corinthians between 2009 and 2011, scored 35 goals, provided ten assists, and played 69 matches, with a success rate of 60.78%, in addition to winning the Paulista and the 2009 Copa do Brasil.

Garro, currently a key player in Corinthians’ midfield, has 95 games, 23 assists, 15 goals, and the 2025 Paulistão title. However, the Argentine will not be available for the derby against São Paulo next Thursday at 7:30 pm at Neo Química Arena, for the 34th round of the Brasileirão, due to suspension for accumulation of yellow cards.
