Corinthians confirmed the signing of Jesse Lingard on Friday, but the 33-year-old will not face Coritiba on Wednesday as he is yet to be registered on the CBF’s Boletim Informativo Diário.

Meu Timao understands that the club are awaiting a work visa so the move can be formalised and the player made available to Dorival Júnior. As this is his first stint in Brazilian football, Lingard must complete immigration procedures before he can play.

The process includes obtaining a CPF, required to work and sign contracts in Brazil. He must then secure a residence authorisation for employment, which comes before the definitive contract signature and BID registration.

Although unavailable for the fifth round at Neo Química Arena at 21h30, Corinthians plan to present Lingard to supporters before kick-off. The club also intend to film a special piece with him visiting a community in the East Zone, an idea initially suggested by the player for his presentation video.

Lingard has signed until December 2026, with an automatic extension to the end of 2027 if agreed targets are met.

Developed at Manchester United, he made 235 appearances, scored 35 goals and supplied 21 assists, winning the Europa League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and FA Community Shield.

He has 32 England call-ups and featured at the 2018 World Cup. After loans including West Ham, he joined Nottingham Forest in 2022, then signed for FC Seoul in 2024, recording 66 games, 19 goals and 10 assists.
