Corinthians president picks candidate for club’s secretary-general role

Corinthians' president Osmar Stabile announced changes in the club's board, with the appointment of lifelong councilor Antônio Jorge Rachid Júnior to the position of general secretary. The information was initially released by Rádio Bandeirantes.

Antônio Rachid had previously held the position of general secretary during Roberto de Andrade's administration, between 2015 and 2018. In addition, he served as administrative director under Alberto Dualib's presidency, being considered a kind of "right-hand man" to the controversial former president.

In December 2017, while serving as general secretary, Rachid was involved in a controversy when he promised to regularize the situation of defaulting members in exchange for support for Paulo Garcia in Corinthians' presidential election.

Another appointment by the current board is that of Joaquim Egídio Arruda, who served as director of aquatic sports under Duilio Monteiro Alves' administration (2021–2023) and will now take on the role of deputy commercial director. The announcement was made by the councilor himself in a WhatsApp group of the council. Arruda is also a member of the Statute Reform Commission, a role he will likely leave upon assuming the new board.

Both new board members were present at a meeting held last Monday (29), at Parque São Jorge, although their names have not yet been officially announced by the club.

With the definition of the two new directors, Corinthians still has four positions open: director of professional football, director of assets, director of aquatic sports, and director of marketing. According to Central do Timão's investigation, Stabile is also expected to appoint a deputy director for the legal department, currently headed by Pedro Soares.

It should be noted, however, that it is not mandatory to fill all statutory directorships. The professional football department, for example, is led by executive Fabinho Soldado, while the club's marketing area is under the responsibility of superintendent Vinícius Manfredi.

The current board of Corinthians will remain in charge of the club until the end of 2026, when Osmar Stabile's interim term ends, who may run for re-election for a new term until 2029.
