Corinthians put squad first, bring forward image rights payments

Even amidst a delicate financial situation, Corinthians has adopted a stance of prioritizing commitments with the professional squad in the decisive stretch of the season. The directive from President Osmar Stabile is not only to meet the deadlines established in contracts but also to advance payments whenever there is room in the club's cash flow.

In December, for instance, the management authorized the advance payment of the athletes' image rights. The amounts, which were scheduled to be paid on the 20th, were deposited a few days before the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil, a competition in which Corinthians eliminated Cruzeiro and advanced to the final. The information was disclosed by Uol.

Internally, the initiative is seen as a way to strengthen the relationship between management and players and maintain an environment of trust within the squad. Since taking office, Osmar Stabile has maintained dialogue with the athletes about the club's financial situation. Simultaneously, the management is working to regularize pending issues and avoid creating new delays.

During this period, Corinthians managed to settle four months of overdue image rights, in addition to paying bonuses related to the final rounds of the Brazilian Championship and the Paulista Championship title.

Currently, the only pending issues with the squad concern bonuses for the qualifications in the last two stages of the Copa do Brasil, against Athletico in the quarterfinals and Cruzeiro in the semifinals. In the case of the spot over the Minas Gerais club, the management understands that the payment is still within the deadline stipulated in the contract. Settling these amounts is treated as a priority in closing the club's accounts at the end of the year.

Expected Revenues for the Coming Months

As a finalist in the Copa do Brasil, Corinthians has already secured at least R$ 33 million in prize money for the campaign up to the decision. In case of winning the title, the amount could reach R$ 77 million, adding to the amounts collected in the previous stages of the tournament.

Additionally, the club is awaiting the transfer from Liga Forte União (LFU) regarding participation in the Brazilian Championship. The amount is still being calculated, as Corinthians finished the competition in 13th place, below the initial target set by the management, which was to finish among the top ten.

Internally, the assessment is that the cash flow situation should only show greater stability starting in March when the current major financial commitments are organized.

Different Scenario for the Administrative Sector

While professional football has been treated as a priority, the reality is different in other sectors of the club. At the beginning of December, there was a delay in paying the first installment of the 13th salary of the administrative staff at Parque São Jorge.

The amount was settled, but the episode exposed the difficulties faced by the management in balancing internal accounts while seeking to keep commitments with the squad up to date.
