Corinthians drew with Flamengo in the eighth round at Neo Química Arena, despite an early mistake by goalkeeper Hugo Souza.

According to Globo.com, Yuri Alberto was the standout, levelling from Matheus Bidu’s cross after a clever pass by Memphis Depay.

Before the break Hugo Souza tipped away an Arrascaeta volley, having earlier erred with the pass that led to Flamengo’s counter-attacking opener. Memphis started brightly but soon felt right thigh discomfort and was replaced by Garro.

After the interval Corinthians had a man advantage when Evertton Araújo was sent off for fouling Breno Bidon. Even so, with limited options on the bench they struggled to raise the tempo, and André departed on 33 of the second half.

Rossi denied Alberto a second, while substitutes Kayke and Gui Negão made little impact, the latter spurning a stoppage-time chance. Gustavo Henrique was assured at the back and Gabriel Paulista’s front-foot defending sometimes left gaps, as Carrillo sat deeper and Matheus Pereira was subdued. Head coach Dorival Júnior kept the Supercopa line-up and saw his side deliver a solid first half.
