Corinthians reach agreement with Fagner to terminate contract

After negotiations to terminate the contract, Corinthians and Fagner have reached an agreement to end their relationship definitively. Thus, the right-back will be free to sign with any club and is expected to choose Cruzeiro, where he was on loan for the 2025 season. The information comes from CNN.

The main obstacle to terminating the contract was the amount requested by Fagner, who would be entitled to his salary until the end of the contract, scheduled for December 2026. According to the report, Timão will save approximately R$ 8 million, including salaries and other payments.

The negotiation was led by Marcelo Paz, the new football executive at Corinthians. The director is also keeping an eye on Maycon's contract renewal, who received an offer from Atlético-MG, and on Memphis Depay, who has only six months left on his contract and can already sign a pre-contract with another club.

Due to a loss of playing time in 2024, with the arrival of Matheuzinho, Fagner and Corinthians decided to loan the player out. He went to Cruzeiro and took his entire family, including his son and fellow player Henrique Lemos, who adapted to Belo Horizonte and wanted to stay.

There were no reunions last year, but with the definitive signing with Cruzeiro, Fagner will have no obstacles to face Corinthians. In 2026, the teams will meet in the Brasileirão, but they could also face each other in the Copa do Brasil and the Libertadores.
