On Thursday night Corinthians beat Athletico Paranaense 1-0 at the Arena da Baixada in the Campeonato Brasileiro, with Rodrigo Garro scoring. Coming after Sunday’s away victory over São Bernardo, it delivered their first consecutive away wins of the year.
The last time Corinthians put together successive away victories came in the closing stages of the 2025 Copa do Brasil. They won 1-0 against Cruzeiro at the Mineirão in the semi-final, then 2-1 against Vasco at the Maracanã in the final. According to Meu Timao, more away days now await.
Consecutive away wins have been scarce. In 2025, besides that cup run, they managed only two such streaks, in August they beat Fluminense, Athletico Paranaense and Vasco. Earlier in the year, in the Campeonato Paulista, they defeated Novorizontino and Ponte Preta.
On Sunday they visit Canindé to face Portuguesa in the Paulista quarter-finals. After that they travel to Belo Horizonte to meet Cruzeiro in the league.
Depending on other Paulista results, Corinthians may not return to the Neo Química Arena until March, when Coritiba visit in the league. The competition’s regulations award home advantage to the best record, so if they progress, Corinthians could be away in both the semi-final and the final.
