Corinthians seek to extend dominance over São Paulo at Itaquera

Corinthians faces São Paulo this Sunday afternoon (18th), at 4:00 PM (Brasília time), at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the third round of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. The Alvinegro comes into the classic occupying the eighth position in the overall state league table with three points, since in the last match they were defeated by RB Bragantino, away from home, by 3-0.

The club from Parque São Jorge, in addition to seeking to get back to winning ways, also aims to continue improving its record against São Paulo at the Neo Química Arena. Since 2014, the year the stadium was inaugurated, there have been 21 matches between the two teams, with 12 Corinthians victories, eight draws, and only one defeat – 38 goals scored and 20 conceded.

The numbers are also favorable to the Alvinegro when it comes to matches in the Campeonato Paulista. Throughout history, there have been 190 matches, with 68 Corinthians victories, 60 draws, and 62 defeats – 249 goals for Corinthians and 258 for the rival. Of the 31 state titles won by the club from Parque São Jorge in its history, five were against the Morumbis team: 1938, 1982, 1983, 2003, and 2019.

Regarding the overall historical record, Corinthians has a wide advantage. In 365 matches between the two teams throughout history, there have been 134 Corinthians victories, 116 draws, and 115 São Paulo wins – 516 goals scored by the Alvinegro and 496 by the opponent. In this edition of the Paulistão, the Alvinegro is seeking back-to-back championships, since in 2025, they defeated archrival Palmeiras in the grand final and claimed the title – almost six years after their last triumph.
