Corinthians shine in Women's Libertadores quarters, lead Boca

Corinthians Women's team faced Boca Juniors from Argentina on the afternoon of last Saturday, October 11, at Estádio Francisco Urbano, Buenos Aires Province, in a match valid for the quarterfinals of the Conmebol Libertadores and ended up winning by a score of 4-0. The Brabas' goals were scored by Gabi Zanotti (three times) and Jhonson.

The triumph of the Parque São Jorge club over the Argentinians broke the tie in the historical record between the teams, which previously stood at one win for each side and one draw. Now, with this overwhelming victory, the Brabas have taken the lead, with two wins, one draw, and one loss – six goals scored and only two conceded.

In addition, Corinthians Women maintained an almost perfect record in the quarterfinals of the Women's Libertadores – a stage that has been played since the 2019 edition. In seven appearances, the Brabas advanced in six of them. The only elimination came precisely against Boca Juniors, in 2022, in the first ever meeting between the teams, with a 2-1 defeat.

In 2019, in the quarterfinals, Corinthians knocked out Santiago Morning from Chile after winning 2-0. The following year, they eliminated the same opponent at the same stage with a resounding 7-0 win. In the 2021 edition, the Brabas faced Allianza Lima from Peru and triumphed 2-1.

In 2022, as already mentioned, the Brabas said goodbye to the international competition in the quarterfinals after a 2-1 defeat to Boca Juniors. In 2023, the Alvinegro eliminated América de Cali from Colombia by winning 4-0. In 2024, the Parque São Jorge club beat Olimpia from Paraguay at this same stage, 2-0.

It is worth noting that the Brabas are the tournament's most successful team with five titles (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024). They will return to the pitch this Wednesday, October 15, at 8 pm (Brasília time), to face Ferroviária in a national classic in the semifinals of the Conmebol Women's Libertadores.
