Corinthians’ standing in the Brasileirão after part of the first round ⚽

On the evening of this Wednesday (28th), Corinthians faced Bahia at Vila Belmiro for the first round of the 2026 Brazilian Championship and ended up being defeated by a score of 2 x 1. Midfielder Breno Bidon scored the Corinthians goal at the beginning of the second half. The setback left the team in 15th place, still without any points.

After the partial completion of the round, the teams with three points are: Chapecoense, Vitória, Fluminense, Bahia, São Paulo, Athletico-PR, and Red Bull Bragantino. Following them are Palmeiras and Atlético-MG, who faced each other and drew 2 x 2 at Arena MRV, each earning one point. In the group of defeated teams, in this order, are: Flamengo, Grêmio, Corinthians, Coritiba, Internacional, Santos, and Remo, respectively. The last four open the relegation zone.

This Thursday (29th), the first round will conclude with two matches: at 8 PM (Brasília time), Mirassol hosts Vasco da Gama at Maião. Meanwhile, at 9:30 PM, Botafogo will face Cruzeiro at Estádio Nilton Santos. In the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians will return to the field only on the next 12th (Thursday), at 8 PM (Brasília time), at Neo Química Arena, for the second match of the Brasileirão.

Before that, Corinthians shifts its focus to the final of the Supercopa do Brasil. Next Sunday (1st), at 4 PM (Brasília time), the Alvinegro will face Flamengo at Estádio Mané Garrincha in Brasília. Subsequently, the Alvinegro will have two more matches in the Paulistão, both at home, on February 5th and 8th, against Capivariano and Palmeiras, before returning to play in the national competition.
