Corinthians women's winger on defeat: team lacked chemistry

The Furious Ones returned to the court last Thursday, 4th, for the second round of the Paulista Women's Basketball Championship and suffered their first defeat in the state championship, losing 60 to 65 to Ourinhos, at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, located in Parque São Jorge.

After the home match, the wing Yasmim commented on the difficulties faced by the team and highlighted that the team led by Bruno Guidorizzi is still going through a process of adaptation with the new players.

"We knew it was going to be a physical game, right? We are without Tassia, I'm filling in, so it's a small team compared to theirs. We're still in the adaptation process, but that's not an excuse. Today our shooting percentage was horrible, so we have to look at our side too, not just externalize the blame. When we took advantage of the free balls and defended better, we managed to reduce the difference of almost 20 points", said Yasmim.

The wing/guard Tassia is still recovering from an injury suffered in the LBF playoffs, while four athletes were integrated into the squad last week after the departures of Mari Dias, Ariadna, Rapha Monteiro and Nahomis Vargas: Glenda Cruz, Jaque, Tayna Silva and Jamile Ferreira.

The Corinthians player also analyzed the points that culminated in the home defeat and pointed out adjustments that need to be made for the team to find the path to victory in the rest of the season.

"I think defensively we also made some mistakes and that gave them easy points. We have to keep running after a depleted team, but it's not just this factor, it's a point we have to improve, at home the shots have to be better", the wing pointed out.

"Our team likes to mark, we are aggressive, so the attack can't just depend on the defense. We have to defend well for our attack to flow. There's still a lot of championship ahead, so we need to correct quickly, integrate and improve in the next game", she concluded.

Timão returns to the court on September 16th, a Tuesday, at 7pm (Brasília time), away from home, against Sesi Araraquara, at the Sesi Gymnasium - Araraquara. The match will be valid for the third round of the Paulista Women's Basketball Championship.
