Ansu Fati (23) enjoyed an electric start to life at AS Monaco. The Spaniard arrived at the Principality club on loan from Barcelona in the summer, and whilst he missed the start of the season due to fitness, it didn’t take him long to make his mark.
He netted on his UEFA Champions League debut for Monaco before then coming off the bench on his Ligue 1 debut to net a brace and secure a win over FC Metz. He netted six goals in his first five matches, however, he has since failed to score in any of his last six.
He has been used a little more sparingly under Sébastien Pocognoli, who has attributed Fati’s limited minutes to illness. However, he continues to be used sparingly and is less impactful compared to his time under Adi Hutter.
Marca report that Barcelona are concerned about the situation. The Catalan club still want to sell Fati, and Monaco have an €11m buy option included in the loan deal. However, if the forward does not earn more game time, he could be recalled from his loan with Les Monégasques in January, with Barcelona desperate for Fati to expose his talents, which in turn will garner a higher fee.
