Could PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé make Saudi Arabia move?

As things stand, there is currently a standoff between Paris Saint-Germain and Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé (28). Whilst the player’s entourage have denied that a contract extension offer has been rejected, Dembélé is looking for a new contract in line with his new status as the “best player in the world”, as the Ballon d’Or is meant to signify.

However, PSG’s strategy has changed in recent seasons and they are no longer in the habit of handing out big contracts. “We won’t go back to completely contextless salaries that put the economic balance of the club in peril,” an internal source at PSG has told L’Équipe.

The question is whether the two positions, that of Dembélé and that of PSG, are reconcilable. L’Équipe understands that, should that not prove to be the case, there is the possibility that, in the medium term, the Ballon d’Or winner could go to Saudi Arabia in order to obtain the contract that Les Parisiens have shown themselves reticent to offer. PSG are in no rush to conclude a deal in any case; ‘Dembouz’ may have to be patient.
