Coventry City have completed the permanent signing of goalkeeper Carl Rushworth from Brighton & Hove Albion after his outstanding loan spell helped fire the Sky Blues back to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has signed a long-term contract at the CBS Arena, with the deal reportedly worth an initial £22.5 million, potentially rising to £30 million through add-ons.

Rushworth was one of Coventry's standout performers last season, playing every Championship match as Frank Lampard's side secured the title and ended a 25-year absence from the top flight. The England Under-21 international kept 17 clean sheets in 46 league appearances, establishing himself as one of the division's most consistent goalkeepers.

Despite never making a senior appearance for Brighton, Rushworth enjoyed several successful loan spells after joining from Halifax Town in 2019. His impressive campaign at Coventry convinced the club to make the move permanent, handing Lampard one of his top transfer priorities ahead of their return to Premier League football.
