Nottingham Forest are set to lose a senior backroom figure at the end of the season, with Craig Mulholland poised to depart for the Scottish FA. According to The Telegraph, compensation has been agreed and the Reds’ head of football development is in line to become chief football officer at the SFA.
Forest’s survival bid was boosted at the weekend as they came from behind to beat Burnley 4-1. Morgan Gibbs-White struck a 15-minute hat-trick after the interval to move Vitor Pereira’s side five points clear of the drop.
There are five games left and work remains to be done, yet a significant close season awaits regardless of the division. Mulholland has been with Forest since 2023, overseeing loans, recruitment, emerging talent, player pathways, the B team and the transition from academy to first team at the Nigel Doughty Academy.
He previously worked for the SFA in several development roles, before joining Rangers in 2003 and spending two decades at Ibrox, including as academy operations manager and academy director.
This campaign was meant to build on finishing seventh and qualifying for Europe in 2024/25, but it has been chaotic, with four head coaches and a relegation fight. Pereira has steadied the ship and a Europa League semi-final lies ahead. There will be turnover in the squad, and global head of football Edu is also likely to depart.
