Mikayil Faye
A few days ago, Mikayil Faye left Rennes for Cremonese on loan—a move that's stirring up worries at FC Barcelona.
It’s fair to say that FC Barcelona is keeping a close eye on the situation of Mikayil Faye, a former player from their reserve squad. The player is currently on loan at Cremonese in Serie A. The young Senegalese defender, who joined the Italian side on loan from Rennes, is being closely monitored by the Catalan club, according to AS.
Barça actually holds a 30% sell-on clause on any potential future transfer, as well as a buy-back option for the talented Senegalese defender. The club had hoped to benefit financially from his departure, but Faye’s inconsistent performances last season have put a damper on those ambitions.
For Barça, it’s a tricky situation: the club needs Faye to develop in order to maximize their future sell-on value, while also hoping Cremonese doesn’t activate the €10 million buyout clause—allowing the Catalans to retain control over any future transfer and their financial interests.
