Cristiano Ronaldo’s green, 1-of-1 2018 Panini Kaboom card, showing him at Juventus, sold for $1.35 million on 24 May in a Fanatics Collect private deal, ESPN reported after Fanatics confirmed the sale. It is a record for a Ronaldo card and the second costliest football card, behind Lionel Messi’s $1.5 million rookie and ahead of Pele’s $1.33 million.

The previous Ronaldo high was $420,000 on 22 May in a Fanatics Premier auction for a 1-of-1 2015 Panini Flawless Finishes Black, graded 7 by PSA with a 10 autograph. The new price more than triples that benchmark, and the buyer has not been named.

The 2018 Kaboom run was a 50-player multisport issue released via Panini Rewards packs rather than at retail. Kaboom began in 2013, and the 2018 introduction of the green 1-of-1 parallel has become especially prized.

High-end collector ‘cherubcards’ said they acquired the Ronaldo in March 2024 and confirmed to The Athletic they were the seller. They added the card was cracked from BGS 9.5 and upgraded to a gem-mint PSA 10, and compared it with a Kobe Bryant Green Kaboom while praising Ronaldo’s Juventus tenure.

On the pitch, Ronaldo has just won his first Saudi Pro League title with Al Nassr since joining in January 2023, and was named last week in Portugal’s World Cup squad for what would be a sixth tournament. In the market, Messi has recorded at least seven card sales above $350,000 since August, while Ronaldo now has two above that mark, both in the last week.
