Croatia have named their 26-man squad for the upcoming World Cup, with the announcement coming on Monday. Head coach Zlatko Dalic has picked his group for football’s biggest stage, sticking largely with the core that has taken them deep in recent tournaments.
As expected, the squad is built around a number of familiar faces. Dominik Livakovic, Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, Andrej Kramaric and Ivan Perisic all feature again and are set to be central to Croatia’s hopes.
There’s also the ever-present Luka Modric, who will head to his fifth World Cup - a remarkable milestone and another reminder of just how long he’s been the heartbeat of this side.
Croatia have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, Ghana and England. They get their campaign underway on 17 June, and it’s a big one straight away against England.
It’s fair to say Croatia have made a habit of delivering on the World Cup stage in recent years. They finished runners-up in 2018 after losing to France, and followed that up with third place in 2022 after beating Morocco - proof they’re still a team nobody wants to face when it matters most.
