Crystal Palace have enquired to sign Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong on a season-long loan, according to the Telegraph.
The club has a history of doing business with Chelsea. Several players have moved on loan between the two clubs in recent years.
Previous Chelsea players who have joined Palace on temporary deals include Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ben Chilwell, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah.
The Eagles believe Acheampong could follow the same path and make an impact next season.
Acheampong has impressed during his short time in the senior team.
The teenager has represented England at Under-20 level and is tipped to play for the senior national team in the near future.
Palace are hoping Chelsea will allow Acheampong to leave temporarily to gain more experience.
The move could benefit both clubs as it would allow the player to continue his development at a competitive level.
Acheampong can play both as a centre-back and right-back, making him an ideal fit for Palace’s defensive plans.
Palace want to add flexible players to their squad, particularly given the increased number of games due to their participation in Europe.
The Eagles want to bolster their defence and have identified Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande as a key target ahead of next season.
A loan move for Acheampong is also on the agenda.
