Crystal Palace are in advanced talks to sign American wing-back Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake, with a fee expected to be around $15 million (£11.1m). According to NY Times, an agreement is not yet in place but negotiations are progressing positively.
Palace are viewed as favourites for the 19-year-old, though Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid pushed in January. Gozo wants a move to Europe this summer, and RSL, fifth in the Western Conference, are open to an immediate sale as bids intensify.
This season he has six goals and five assists in 16 matches as a wing-back, having first broken through as a winger. He is a strong candidate for a senior United States debut this autumn after narrowly missing the 2026 World Cup squad.
Palace appointed Pierre Sage this summer after Oliver Glasner left following a UEFA Conference League final win over Rayo Vallecano that secured Europa League qualification. Glasner has since joined Nottingham Forest.
If completed, Gozo would be Palace’s first paid signing of the window and their second addition, after right wing-back Oscar Mingueza arrived on a free from Celta Vigo.
Sage could also use Gozo in forward areas, with Palace having lacked depth when Ismaila Sarr was at the Africa Cup of Nations and January arrival Brennan Johnson struggled for form. He could ease the load in the No 10 role during a busy Europa League schedule.
They remain keen to sign two centre-backs after selling Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea, plus a midfielder.
