All three Premier League sides want to make sure they strengthen over the course of the summer transfer window and they have their eyes on the FIFA tournament unfolding in the United States.

A host of sides are in action at the Club World Cup, which has suffered from low crowds at some games, and that offers an opportunity for Premier League sides to check on clubs from around the globe.

Brazilian giants Palmeiras are in action in the tournament and their Colombian midfielder Richard Rios is under the scanner.

Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Tottenham all ‘really like him’, according to Spanish journalist Eduardo Burgos.

Atletico Madrid have also been linked with Rios, but there is no agreement for him to join Diego Simeone’s side.

Palmeiras are not in a rush to sell Rios and they also have no financial need to cash in; they are being well compensated from playing in the Club World Cup.

They are looking for a price of around £15m to £19m if they are to consent to his departure this summer.

The Colombia international clocked 87 minutes in Palmeiras’ 0-0 draw with FC Porto at the Club World Cup, their only outing so far.

He has been linked with Premier League sides regularly during recent transfer windows, with West Ham United often mooted as suitors.

Tottenham and Newcastle would be able to offer Rios the chance to play in the Champions League next season, while Crystal Palace have Europa League football on the agenda.
