Crystal Palace are exploring a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The club recently lost Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, creating a gap in their creative options.

Manager Oliver Glasner is keen to add quality players to his squad ahead of the new season.

Palace look to strengthen midfield

Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss and Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis are also on Palace’s radar as they look for more attacking options.

Gallagher has now emerged as a target. They have contacted Atletico about the possibility of a return for the England international.

The midfielder previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at Selhurst Park during the 2021/22 campaign. He scored eight goals and was named the club’s Player of the Year.

Palace are considering a loan move for Gallagher, although nothing has been agreed.

Glasner values Gallagher’s energy and ability to adapt to different midfield roles. He believes his qualities would bring balance to Palace’s midfield after Eze’s departure.

Gallagher is known for his tireless running and pressing, often helping his team win the ball high up the pitch.

He makes well-timed forward runs, offering an extra option in attack while also tracking back to defend.

The 25-year-old is technically reliable, comfortable in possession, and capable of moving the ball quickly to maintain the team’s tempo.

He prefers his right foot but uses both feet to control and distribute the ball under pressure.

Palace hope their previous relationship with Gallagher can work in their favour. However, Atletico will have the final say on whether a deal is possible before the transfer window closes.
